NASHVILLE, TENN. / AUSTIN, TEXAS  – Today, Big Loud Texas proudly announces the signing of GRAMMY® nominated artist-writer Waylon Payne. In tandem, Payne announces his forthcoming album Wayward set for July 17. A song decades in the making, “Weed By The Wall” is out today.

“I first heard Waylon Payne’s music in 2004, with his very first album,” Lambert adds. “Called The Drifter, I’ll never forget the feelings it gave me. A 13-song collection produced by Frank Liddell (Lee Ann Womack, Miranda Lambert) and Eric Masse (Parker McCollum), half of Wayward was notably solo written. The new masterful body of work follows his timeless debut The Drifter (2003) and Blue Eyes, The Harlot, The Queer, The Pusher & Me (2020), which were both met with widespread acclaim. A brilliant showcase of the razor-sharp lyrical prowess that defines his artistry, Wayward is vulnerable, honest and beaming with wisdom.

The album features recently released “Holding On To Lonely” that Billboard noted as, “vulnerable” and “introspective,” and MusicRow praised, “his voice is marvelously aching.” Payne’s “Looking For A Feeling,” penned alongside Pam Tillis and named one of the “Best New Country Songs” by Holler, kicks off Wayward.

Called “The Lone Star rising star” by Cowboys & Indians, Rankin continues to chart her musical path with smoldering new songs like recent “Little Miss Behavin’,” with an unforgettable official music video starring Gretchen Wilson.

NASHVILLE, TENN. – Today Big Loud Texas singer-songwriter Alex Lambert delivers “Lay Down In A Pickup,” a spellbinding reverie. The soul country force offers an ingenious take on a classic country trope, swapping the standard backroads setting for a romantic desert getaway. Co-produced by Big Loud Texas Co-Founder Jon Randall, “Lay Down In A Pickup” emerged from a writing session with legendary songwriter Rivers Rutherford (Jamey Johnson, The Highwaymen). “Rivers had that title, and I got him on board with turning it into something with the cowboy-soul vibe I was going for,” says Lambert. “It’s still a pickup song, but we’re painting with the colors of South Texas and Baja California and all those desert places I felt inspired by.”

Offering a fresh take on the trope, Lambert sings:

A collection of 10 riveting country-folk songs – all solo-written and produced by lauded GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Dave Cobb – the stark, striking effort is an exercise in artistic abandon. “This album was made with spontaneity and improvisation, and I hope that its rawness points toward the truths that it stands for,” Jennings shares. “I believe that the best art is simple and real. A huge thank you to Big Loud Texas/Mercury, and Dave Cobb for helping bring this vision to life.”

About the unique talent, Cobb declares, “Coleman is the true voice of the west.” Captured in a stream of creative consciousness, nearly half of the album’s songs were at least partially penned on the spot in Cobb’s Savannah, Georgia studio, taking his well-documented affinity for live recording to its ultimate end. Jennings would rarely have a full song to start with – often just a fragment, or a guitar riff he liked. But with Cobb at the controls and a tight band of like-minded creative outlaws, they would finish it by feel and record it then and there. The process speaks to Jennings’ musical ethos and captures the country-folk spirit like nothing else. 

The album features previously released “Good While It Lasted,” called “a lively melody and humorous charm to heartbreak” by Billboard, and “Flyin’,” a testament to Jennings “carving out a lane that reveres tradition while remaining unafraid to blur its edges” (Country Central). It also includes his first label release, “Head Spinning,” and the ’70s-style, harmony-rich “Jamie,” named one of Holler‘s “Best New Country Songs.”

The album concludes with “I Will Lead You Home,” a gentle ballad about seeking purpose and a personal journey to find God. Jennings put off finishing the song for years, but in Cobb’s studio, he realized the time had finally come. Giving himself over to the moment, the result was one of the standout tracks on the album.

Today, Gossett also announced he’ll be supporting The Red Clay Strays later this summer on the band’s North American tour.

Last year, Gossett released his self-written and produced debut album Westward to critical acclaim. HEADLINING DROUGHT FLOWER TOUR BEGINS APRIL 9

NEW ALBUM INCLUDES FEATURES BY SARAH JAROSZ AND ZANDI HOLUP

“THE DROPTINES GRIND THEIR WAY OUT OF TEXAS AND INTO THE MAINSTREAM” – ROLLING STONE

NASHVILLE, TENN. / AUSTIN, TEXAS  – In a musical landscape peppered with overnight sensations and viral moments, The Droptines stand out. Their gritty new album Drought Flower is out today. The 11-track record marks the band’s full-length debut via Big Loud Texas and is the follow-up to their 2024 self-titled debut album.

The close-knit band of five honed their chops in the Texas Hill Country, building a following fan-by-fan since their formation in 2019. More than anything, Drought Flower is a snapshot in time for a group of friends figuring out life and music as they go along. A culmination of their alt trajectory leading to some of music’s most revered stages, The Droptines made their Opry debut last week. Stepping into the hallowed circle, the outfit performed “Snowed In” and “Tombstone” from the new album.

Recorded at storied Aryln Studios with production by GRAMMY® Award winner Jon Randall, Jacob Sciba and Taylor Tatsch, nine of the album’s tracks were solo written by frontman Conner Arthur. On Drought Flower, The Droptines are pursuing timelessness, while acknowledging people in their lives who enabled such a pursuit. “A Town Near You (Feat. Zandi Holup)” explores detachment from a relationship because you can’t stay in one place for too long, “Well I’m gone like a wildflower, I move on from town to town.” “Mamaw” finds them mourning the loss of a family member (with Sarah Jarosz lending her voice). The title track laments a social encounter with a strong and independent woman. “Snowed In” is a fast-paced love song for a significant other that gets straight to the point.

If the album sounds like a gesture of thanks to the significant others, sisters, mothers, grandmothers and just about every other female figure in The Droptines’ lives, Arthur says that’s by design. The album is about growth, but it’s also about honoring the people who enabled it throughout the band.

“Maturity is reflected [on Drought Flower], for sure, and intentionality,” shares Arthur. “I think the overarching theme of it is an appreciation for the women in our lives and the matriarchy that raised most of us. There are some songs about lost friends and loved ones — there still is the element of laughing to keep from crying and that dark humor — but I think a lot of it is just kind of a love letter.”

Tonight, The Droptines take the stage in Austin for their album release show. Starting next week, the band will hit the road in their repurposed silver school bus-turned-tour bus for their headlining Drought Flower Tourwhich takes the band throughout the Lone Star State and includes stops in Lexington, Ky., Washington, D.C., New York City and more.
